BHOPAL (Web Desk) – A ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Bhopal has announced a reward of INR10,000 per slap to the person who slaps filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s face with a shoe.
Akhilesh Khandelwal, chairman of Hosangabad Municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh, made the announcement in his Facebook post on Sunday.
According to India.com, he told media, “They (such film personalities) are trying to distort our history to show us in poor light in public. We can no more remain silent. We consider it our responsibility to rein in such forces.”
On Friday, Bhansali was assaulted on set by a group protesting his new movie “Padmavati”, which they claim distorts historical facts about their clan.
Video shows protesters from a group called the Rajput Karni Sena slapping director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and pulling his hair as filming was taking place at a fort in Jaipur on Friday.
Support poured in for Bhansali as Bollywood fraternity strongly condemned the attack and asked the Indian Prime Minister to take strict action against the culprits.
