Here’s why fans think Kattappa killed Baahubali.

This April, fans have only one thing on their mind – Baahubali 2. Polls conducted by various websites including ours have declared Baahubali, as one of the most anticipated films of 2017. While fans can’t wait to plunge into the world of Mahishmati, created by SS Rajamouli and rest of crew, there’s another major reaosn why fans are eagerly awiating the release. They are looking for the final answer to the most asked question of the century – Why Kattappa Killed Bahaubali! At a recent audio launch, Sathyaraj who plays the famous character candidly said,”“Producers, Shobu sir and Prasad sir paid me very well. And Rajamouli told me to kill Baahubali, so I killed him.” While everyone laughed over the witty reply, the question still stands. Fans have come up with various kinds of theories and can’t stop wracking their heads aorund it. We found some of these theories on Quora. Read on to know if you agree:

Here’s what Sushant Dalal had to say – Amarendra Bahubali and BhallalaDeva both fall in love with the same girl, Devsena. But Devsena chooses Amarendra Baahubali over Bhallaladeva. As he lost out on both – the kingdom and the girl he loved, because of Baahubali, he decides to plot a conspiracy against Baahubali and gets Sivakami on his side. She orders Kattappa to kill “Amarendra Baahubali”. Although Kattappa likes Baahubali, he has no choice but to follow the Queen’s orders. He regrets this misstep all his life. Soon after Sivakami realises BhallalaDeva’s true intentions, but it’s too late as Baahubali has already been killed and Bhallaladeva is set to take over the throne and kill Baahubali’s baby too. Shanky Rungta had to say this – Bhallaladeva and his father would have blackmailed Sivagami by putting forth extreme conditions that left her with little or no choice but to agree to the fact that Bhallaladeva should be crowned king. As she had already declared Baahubali as King, there wouldn’t be any other way to dethrone him other than getting him killed. Sivagami, unwantedly would have asked Kattappa to do the same. Kattappa, being the most loyal followed the order and killed Baahubali.

Rama Raju Indukuri theory is on the same lines as Sushant Dalal – Because Kattappa has pledged loyalty to the throne but not the person sitting on the throne. My assumption is based on lots of folk tales ‘ve read or I have been told – both the brothers fall in love with the same girl, Baahubali gives up the throne to be with his love. BallalaDeva is then crowned the king, However his growing frustration at Bahubali’s popularity among the masses and his happy alliance with the woman he loved drives him to order Kattappa to kill him.

Utkarsh Kapoor has another theory I was just watching this movie WARCRAFT which triggered the possible reasons why Kattappa Killed Baahubali. Kattappa was loyal, the only reason he would have done that would be because his king ordered him to. But that would mean that Baahubali ordered him to do so, because he was the king. Yes, you read it right… Baahubali orders Kattappa to kill him. The reaosn is not clear enough but Baahubali might have given the order for the greater good of the company. He chose Kattappa because getting killed by enemies or during the war wouldn’t have solved anything.

Sumit Chavan thinks Kattappa has NOT killed Baahubali – Right after I watched ‘Bahubali’, the only thing that came to my mind is, ‘Kattappa has not killed Baahubali’… Yes, I strongly feel that Kattappa has no role in Bahubali’s murder. If you recall the scene where Kattappa is being shown stabbing Bahubali, you can clearly notice that it is shown as an imagination. Kattappa was telling it to all the people present there and they imagined it that way. ‘Dream Sequence’ as it may be called in film terminology. If we accept it, we are left with two questions,

1. Who killed Baahubali?
2. Whether Baahubali is really dead or not?

And in my opinion, both the questions offer enough drama which will make the sequel interesting. In either cases, we can ensure good entertainment.
